oPart 2

  • Numbered Heads Together
    • Post review questions one at a time (powerpoint, poster, white board)
    • Give each student a number (numbered head, get it?)
    • Students put their heads together to reach a consensus on an answer.
    • Using answer cards, one student holds up the answer when the teacher asks.
    • Use the random name selector to choose which numbered student answers
    • http://classtools.net/main_area/fruit_machine.htm
  • Swat Game
    • Teacher posts key terms (and one BONUS picture of a fly) on board, overhead, or on word wall.
    • Two students come up to board and stand with backs to answers
    • Teachers asks a question.
    • Students use a fly swatter to swat the answer. If the answer isn’t there, they swat the BONUS fly picture.
  • Quiz-Quiz Trade
    • Students receive test questions on index cards.
    • Students stand up, put their hands up, and slap hands to pair up.
    • Pairs quiz each other with their cards.
      • One student reads the question and answers while the “ANWERER” looks on as they read.
      • The correct answer is revealed afterward for reinforcement
    • Students trade cards, put their hands up, pair up with another student, and quiz again.

  • Inside - Outside Circle
    • Students receive test questions on index cards.
    • Students create two concentric circles.
    • Students face their partner and quiz each other.
    • Students trade cards.
    • One of the circles rotates.
    • New partners quiz each other. Repeat.
  • Fan & Pick
    • Students are in teams of four.
    • Each team receives a deck of test questions.
    • Student 1 fans out cards.
    • Student 2 selects a card and reads it to student 3.
    • Student 3 answers the question.
    • Student 4 coaches and praises student 3.
    • Roles rotate and student 2 now fans out cards.
    • Repeat.
  • Paper Fight
    • Test questions are on colored paper.
      • Blue #1-4
      • Pink #5-8
      • Yellow #9-12
      • Green #13-16
    • Students each receive one answer sheet (with lines #1-16) and a few questions pages
    • Students crumple up test questions and have a paper fight for thirty seconds.
    • On a start and stop clock, students pick up any color paper, uncrumple it and complete the test questions.
    • Students have a paper fight again.
    • Students then pick up a different colored paper and complete those test questions.
    • Repeat until they have answered all questions

  • Password (similar to Pyramid t.v. gameshow)
    • Students are in pairs and compete against another pair.
    • Students receive a list of key terms and must give a one word clue to get their partner to guess the science term.
    • Opposing teams take turns trying to get their partners to guess the same word.
  • Beat the Clock
    • Students are in pairs and receive a list of key terms.
    • Students are given 2 minutes to get their partners to say as many of the terms from the list using one word clues
  • Line-ups
